Client: Materials Nexus (MatNex) is a tech start-up that uses AI computations to create rare & critical materials quickly

Situation: Ahead of fundraising their Series B fundraising round, the CEO and his team of physicists and engineers wanted help with pitching and story-telling

Ask: The Next Lighthouse was asked to help distill their proposition into compelling narratives for potential investors


Discovery & play-back: conducted a round of interviews with team members to glean & synthesise perspectives on product functions and value propositions

Market analysis: Scanned the market for similar products & propositions - along with existing narratives - to help distinguish MatNex in the marketplace

Communications plug-in: MatNex had already hired a comms agency, so we delivered a set of narratives compatible with existing marketing strategies


Pitching material & support: Review of pitch documents to ensure consistent, effective and impactful messaging

Messaging grid: A framework that scaled with the start-up, capable of incorporating new propositions and stakeholders as the company matures

Refined vision & mission: A clarified impact statement that set out their theory of change, core priorities and strategic direction for the start-up
